Constitution:
The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. The Constitution, though over 200 years old, still holds the means to solve today’s problems. NO ONE is outside or above the reach of the Constitution, it is the law that holds our Republic together.
Defense / National Security:
The primary function of government at any level is to protect its citizens. At the Federal level this means having a well trained and armed military to fend off invasion or attacks on America and its citizens. It demands real security on the borders and at the ports so that terrorists and other criminals aren't allowed to harm Americans. When Our government fails in this, a change is needed.
Trade / Economy:
“Free Trade” as we know it is unfair trade. We must end subsidization of products coming in and out of the country at the expense of taxpayers. The playing field for American workers and corporations must be changed so they can compete on an even playing field in the global economy. We need to restore Constitutional tariffs and lower the corporate tax rate so it is equivalent to that of our trading partners.
Taxes:
I will work to repeal the 16th Amendment, the Amendment that allows the Federal government to steal money from our paychecks every week. If Constitutional tariffs are restored, and we limit the Federal government to live within its means, we will no longer need an income tax. Therefore, I am also opposed to a value-added tax, national sales tax, or a flat tax. Prior to 1913, there was no direct tax on the people.
Fiscal responsibility:
The cost of living is going up, while our standard of living is at best staying the same or going down. The Federal government must reduce its cost to state and local governments by limiting its function to its Constitionally enumerated powers. This means the gradual elimination of earmarks and subsidies.
Veterans:
As it is the primary function of government to protect its citizens, inherent in that duty is the obligation to take care of those who volunteer to defend America. Veterans are waiting too long to get their benefits, if they get them at all. |
